Jill Tipton

Lincolnton City Council, Ward 3

Mrs. Tipton was born to the late Bill and Virginia McAlister. She was married to the late Charles Tipton with whom she raised three children: Lauren, Jonathan and Julie.

After graduating from Lincolnton High School, she obtained her BA degree in English from Campbell University and her Master’s Degree in Reading from Appalachian State University.

Currently she serves as a substitute special needs teacher following a 31 year teaching career with Lincoln County Schools. She is also an Educational Tour Director with Group Travel in Hickory, NC

Mrs. Tipton believes in service to others. Foremost in that is her fourteen years of volunteering with Hope for Haiti Children’s Center in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. She also enjoys working with her church, Freedom Church in Lincolnton, and delivering meals for Christian Ministries. She was named Lincoln County Woman of the Year in 2017.

Jill says: “I love this little town where I have lived my whole life. As I walk by the stores and restaurants on my daily walk, I am so grateful for all the people who have chosen to invest in this wonderful place. I am excited to see the hustle and bustle of downtown, and I want to do my part to keep our town vibrant and thriving.
