North Carolina Representative Jason Saine

Representative Jason Saine represents the 97th North Carolina House District, which encompasses Lincoln County, NC.

Rep. Saine is serving his fourth full term in the North Carolina House after being appointed in 2011.

Rep. Saine was appointed by Speaker Tim Moore in 2019 to serve as a Senior Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. The Appropriations Committee is responsible for preparing the state’s $24 billion dollar budget.

He previously served as the Senior Chairman of the House Finance Committee from 2015-2018. In that role, Chairman Saine passed over a billion dollars in tax cuts for working families across North Carolina. Rep. Saine was also the founding chair of the IT Appropriations Subcommittee and the IT Joint Oversight Committee, leading sweeping reforms and advancements in state IT procurement and security policies.

Saine currently serves as one of six state legislators nationally who advise the Federal Communications Commission on communications policy including phone and broadband. He was recently reappointed to the FCC’s Intergovernmental Advisory Committee by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai after having served a previous appointment by former Chairman Tom Wheeler.

Rep. Saine served four years as the North Carolina State Chair of the American Legislative Exchange Council before accepting a position as the National Chair of the organization in 2018. In this role he worked with legislators across the United States to support model policies that advance limited government, free markets, and federalism.

He is married to Kathryn Saine, who is Director of the Lincoln County Senior Center. They have one son, Jackson, who is in seventh grade at Lincoln Charter School.

Saine remains very active in the community outside of his legislative role. He is the current President of the Arts Council of Lincoln County and a member of the East Lincoln Fire Department where he served previously as the station Public Information Officer. He is also Past Master of Denver Masonic Lodge, #757.
